This Sabbath you can listen to part-one of a two-part series
To our Union Station SDB Family and friends,
For two weeks now, I’ve been seeing something I can’t say I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. Couples, often with their children are spending quality time walking the neighborhood… in a state of relaxation. The covid-19 pandemic has forced rest upon our busy, anxiety driven lifestyle.Americans are anxious about so many things. One completely unnecessary anxiety stems from unintended abrasive relationships caused by our failure to rest. Loving relationships take time; they require rest and rest restores relationships. This is not a new concept. It’s rooted in the Bible beginning in Genesis. Rest creates the opportunity to build relationships.Indeed, this truth is so powerful that God established a pattern of rest for his people.God rested after he created our world: Genesis 2:1-3
Thus, the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. 2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so, on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
We are made in the image of God. Part of being human therefore, is to rest like God.
May your Sabbath day of rest be a blessing for you and your family and those whom you love dearly.
